Major Duckies

Nice title, eh? Today, I woke up late, read Jane Eyre, played Tony Hawk 4, worked on some web-pages, and I'm now going over to Josh's house. Not very much interesting happening today. Hopefully we'll have LANNAGE Sat-Mon. or Sun.-Tues. Should be cool.

Merry Metal Mauling

Another Wednesday, another update. Today is Christmas Day, but let me start at the beggining.

Monday: Played CS, lifted weights, read Jane Eyre (which is beginning to grow on me), took a little nap, went to see the Two Towers. Now, I'll go into more depth with LOTR:TT. I liked the movie overall, but perhaps not quite as much as the first. I thought the integration of the actors with the CG characters (i.e. gollum / smeegle) was absolutely incredible. I did not however, like the liberties that Jackson and others took with the humor end of Gollum's character. He's tormented and never really respected in the books, and I would've liked it that way, I guess. Gimli was adequately droll and provided great comic relief, I thought. My second issue with the movie came with the scene involving the Ents. First of all, I would've liked them more leafy and much, much taller. They looked like wimpy trees, but they did kick some serious butt. Jackson again took some liberties with the Ents and their breaking the dam in order to beat Sauruman, as in the book they diverted a river instead. I felt that the dam was just inserted to make the movie shorter. I guess I'll have to wait for the longer DVD version (+woot+).

Tuesday: Read Jane Eyre, and had the Christmas Bash. My mother, father, grandfather, uncle, and my grandfather's lady friend were all on hand. We open presents from my mom's side of the family (including the one's for me) on Christmas Eve. I like this arrangement. I received a computer Case, Best Buy Gift Card, a weight set, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, and SOCOM:Navy Seals. Hey, I can't complain.

Wednesday (Today): My Mom's cousins from California made a surprise stop-in. I had barely just gotten out of the shower. They were a wonderful surprise, and my grandfather showed up again to say hi, and to pickup some presents he forgot. I played lots of Tony Hawk 4, and my Dad's side of the family came to our house for more present opening, the majority of which went to my 3 year old cousin, Michael. (insert cute AWWW here). Afterwards, I put together my new computer case, and gave myself numerous scrapes and cuts from the rough metal edges. But now I've got more fans in my case, so that's a good thing (8) right? Now it's time for Bed.

An Update? Surely not!

What is this? Another update? C'est impossible (I have no idea how to spell that, nor do I know if that's how you say it). I've been sick lately. My upper respiratory disease degenrated to cold status, which has devolved into my nose gushing like niagara falls. So, I'm thinking about chaining a kleenex box to my arm as I seem to be needing it a great deal.

Friday, I wanted to go to Lord of The Rings to see the pwn that is Treebeard, but didn't - went to Tamra's instead. We watched Austin Powers 3, which I hadn't seen either (probably another disease or something). I liked it a lot. It was easily the best of the three Austin Powers movies.

Saturday I had to work from 3-11:30 at the Target (un-woo7). But Tamara and Jessie showed at Target at 10:30pm because they themselves had just finished selling their souls to the gods of terror and destruction (working). So, they waited for me in the Target parking lot and we went to Tam's house again (notice a pattern here?).

Sunday: Played lots of Counterstrike, cleaned a little, finished up the packet due for ideas class (some very good stuff from the book Ishmael) and then got the call from Target - they wanted me to work again.

We're Sorry, Our Bad

It appears that my blog had been un-updated for quite some time thanks to a wonderful ftp failure. But it's Friday, Christmas break has begun, and I'm elated. I must see LOTR:TTT (Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers). I also have to do a fair amount of webpage coding for other people, unfortunately. School was ok today. Lots of candy thanks to the festive season. Now, let's just hope I don't gain weight.

Another Wednesday Update

Well well well, it seems that another week has passed without me updating. This stems from a couple of reasons: I've been sick and I've been sick and lazy and sick and doing my Stanford Application. So let's see: Friday I went shopping w/ Romer, Greg, Nathan and Alex. We didn't really buy a whole lot. Saturday I had to work, had the big band dance, and lanned at Alex Reback's. Sunday I got sick, slept, watched the Packer game, did lots of homework, and that was that. Monday I was sick but made it to school. Tuesday I did not. Today I made it to school but was pretty hopped up on cold medications. Also, I'd gotten ~18 hrs of sleep on Tues. so I was in one of those half-awake half-sleeping states.

Kerry's Rants
Ok, this first one is about the recent car crash involving Will Endicott, Troy Seals, Joel Coyne, and his girlfriend. For those of you who don't know, Will was high / drunk and pulled out in front of someone (Seals was riding shotty) causing him to be rear-ended coming out of Subway. When Will was rear ended, he crossed over into the oncoming lane of traffic and hit Joel Coyne and his girlfriend, both of whom were not wearing seatbelts. First off, let me ask what exactly was Troy doing with Will if he knew Will was high / drunk? His brother died in a drunk driving crash. Has he learned nothing? Second, why weren't Joel and his Girlfriend wearing seatbelts? With the recent wave of teens dying in drunk driving incidents, you would think they would have had the sense at least to buckle up. Joel's girlfriend broke her nose, apparently. I do not feel too sorry for her becuase of her negligence. Now, perhaps I'm being a little harsh here, so if I am, please let me know.

My second rant concerns the new Hummer2. I just saw that our neighbor down the street bought one. All I can say is: how can you possibly justify guzzling 5x as much gas as a Hybrid or 3.7x as much as a Volkswagen TDI? It is ridiculous to drive a H2. You have no need for it. Don't buy one because it is "cool." Oh, and maybe if you complained about the gas mileage a little bit more, car companies would actually put some effort into improving the gas mileage. Did you know that gas mileage of all cars today can be improved by 20-40% without any appreciable increast in cost to the consumer?

Wednesday Update

Well, I sort of was "sick" this morning. All of this was due to the fact that I was so tired I took my cereal bowl to the bathroom to wash it out (I was going nuts). So, today was short, but sweet. Yesterday was the same old. I took a nap when I got home from school and spent a lot of time working on my math homework. Monday I had show choir, and had little time, as is to be expected. I've been getting into Diablo 2 and CS lately. As always, it's a tradeoff. So, on to the good stuff.

Teh_Rant

No, LAN party last night, but I did go to see Bowling For Columbine, a film by the great Michael Moore. Man, this film was good. No, not just good, great. I was expecting a more mainstream approach to gun control, but Moore did his research and of course made a great number of people look like complete idiots in the process. Bowling is playing at Westgate currently, so go see it!

Sunday I played some diablo II, watched a great deal of football, did my ideas, calculus, and my Spanish homework. I dunno I guess Michael Moore's got me all revved up and liberalized again. Even my mom's not liberal enough for me right now.

While I was working on my Ideas paper, I listened to the new Trapt Songs that I had downloaded. And oh, man, is this a great band. I've yet to find a song that I haven't absolutely loved. And the great thing is, their songs are so completely different. But they're so un-mainstream that I can't find a track listing anywhere. Oh well, I'll get the album for Christmas, I guess.
