Warpath

Today was another somewhat busy day for me. Everything was pretty typical, that is until I talked to Kevin. He mentioned my name as someone who would be interested in sitting at a 'Peace Table' during lunch. The fact that there would be free pizza involved didn't hurt things, either. In Calculus class, Nancy Allen, a school board member sat in on our class as to familiarize herself with the math curriculum, as she is on the committee that is looking to revise the math curriculum. Mr. Smtih asked if we had any questions, so I launched into the discussion by asking her what she thought of the consistently group-oriented negative punishments administration has beein imposing on the student body, which was then shot down - quite rudely, I might add. However, the topic was supposed to be math curriculum, which launched me into my second question, in which I questioned whether or not cognitively guided instruction was still being used in the lower elementary grade levels, to which I was informed that it still was. I then interjected my opinion on the subject, saying that CGI math was pretty much worthless, and that it should be removed from the curriculum. So, yeah, I went off today. It felt good.

Busy (*snore*)

With another Wednesday comes another update. I was tired today from being so busy. I fell asleep in choir and in English. I also fell asleep when I got home. I had jazz band and a voice lesson. The day went rather well, nothing big to talk about. No musical practice, for a change, but I'll be back at it tomorrow. So, yeah, I'm busy, I'm tired that's pretty much it. Oh, and I'm politically irate. I got my Epidemic CD that I won off Ebay in the mail today. It's pretty good - that is if you like harder rock. I also got a talking George W. Bush doll my dad had bought for me for Christmas, but that was on backorder. It's hilarious. Speaking of hilarious, check out this site: Stair Diving.

Kerry's Rant
This morning I watched the 3 Doors Down video for their newish single, "When I'm Gone." At the beginning there is a bit of text stating that 3 Doors down played on the USS Abraham Lincoln (I think), a big aircraft carrier. The video proceeds to show service men and women reuniting with loved ones, holdin children they have not seen in so long. The sight of these men and women is heart-wrenching. I could not imagine the loss and the pain that any of these people or their immediate families would undergo if their loved one were to die at war. I just don't understand how war with Iraq can possibly justified when a father never sees his son, his wife or his daughters. Not one casualty is acceptable. Especially in fighting an evil dictator who has done nothing to the U.S. or Israel at this point. Let oil be damned. There is a mucher higher human cost that will have to be paid.

Case of the Mondays (Farewell)

Today marks Marcus's last day at MGHS, which is a sad event for all of us. He will be dearly missed by myself, Greg, Kathleen, Chris, Zupan, Nathan, Mark, Danny, Matt, Stacy, and everyone else who knows him personally via choir or otherwise. Aside from that, I was tired today, as is so typical of Mondays. I'm beginning to detest social studies because I'm beginning to think my teacher is a knob. We had an impromptu in English on Dostoyevsky's House of the Dead, which was opportune in that I am reading Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment. Here's a tip: Russian literature is quite dull. Aside from that, not a whole lot happened today. I'm still irked I had to work during the Super Bowl. After school, I took a cat nap, listened to some trance, lifted weights, etc.

Super Sunday

Today was Super Bowl Sunday, but unfortuately, I did not get to watch. More on that in a bit. Thursday was another half-day with twenty minute periods. It was boring. We had jazz band afterwards. Friday was another long day ending with my working at Target until close. Saturday we had a jazz band trip to a festival in LaCrosse. I felt we did moderately well, but our trumpet section stunk. My improvisng went well for the most part as did the sightreading portion. We went to Perkins for dinner, and our server ruled. We got back in Monona at about 12:00AM Saturday night / Sunday Morning. Today I had musical practice from 1-3:00. It went very well. I played some Diablo 2 and then cart attended at Target from 5:00-1:00 in the bitter cold (-3 degrees), although it did not feel that bad. I also handed in my leave of absence papers, as I hope to take some time off (from now until May). So, unfortunately I missed the Bucc's romping of the Radiers, but oh well, it was worth the $35, right? *cough*

Saves Saves

The above title is a reference to the band Saves the Day, whose music I have been listening to religiously for a couple days thanks to the ever-cool, always-hip Matt Olig. Today, I had an exam in Spanish class, which I felt went well. Afterward, I had jazz band. My car's steering column was very tight and then the check engine light went on, so I scheduled an appointment at Monona Motors. I did some more web-site work. It's getting there slowly but surely.

Note (Card)

Exams today included Physics, Study Hall and Ideas class. Here's a hint: don't forget your notecard for physics. It won't help you. In the end, though I believe that I did fine on my physics final. There was only one problem I know I got wrong. After school, Jerome, Mara, Elena, Kathleen, Greg, and I went to the East Side Paneira. I payed $10 for a bowl of soup, a turkey sandwich, and a drink. What a rip. The food was good - just not $10 good.

School Problems

Show choir was a whirling shitstorm. I really don't like swearing on this page, but I can't help but express my anger and distaste at this moment in time. It all came to a head tonight, but I'm convinced in the long term this is a good thing.

Below is a link to my Eagle Post Article. Please, let me know what you think of it.

Finals Day #1

Today, Martin Luther King Day, we had school (unfortunately) and to make things worse, we had final exams for periods 6,7, and 8. The three classes I had were Choir, Calculus and English. I feel I did well on all of the exams (choir wasn't really an exam). After school, Jerome, Greg, Tamara, and I went to Fazzoli's and then to Best Buy where I picked up some cd-rw's but was inevitably disappointed due to the lack of Kundun on DVD; Dredg's new CD, El Cielo; and Wilco's CD, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I've been spending more time on writing my piece for the Eagle Post. I hope it makes its way in.

Pain for Pleasure

It has been one hell of a long week. As I have said in the past, musical and show choir have occupied me this entire week. I have not had one day open for two weeks now. Today I went to Milton w/ the show choir. We thought we performed well but only received 13th place out of 15 show choirs. The judging is the only thing that can be blamed for this. We got 12th at Onalaska, which was a much larger competition with more choirs. I'm really sleep deprived and I have to work tomorrow, and I have musical. Finals are Mon.-Wed., so it will be very interesting to see what happens. Last night (this morning) I wrote a piece, which I e-mailed to the Eagle Post. I hope it makes its way into the paper.

Show Choir

This week has been a mess. I've been doing something musical every day this week since the previous Sunday. Thurday I had musical practice, Friday Show Choir Trip to Onalaska, Saturday: Show Choir. Today, I got a day off. We placed a disappointing twelfth in the competition, but it was enjoyable anyway. Gabe and Marcus brought their XBOX'es and I brought my PS2 but forgot my DDR game. I roomed w/ Kevin, Gabe, and Marcus. We enjoyed each other's company. I also got to watch Lilo and Stich, which I thought was an excellent Disney movie. After the competition, Jerome, Nathan, Alex, Alissa, Chris, Leslie, Reina, and Sarah went to Denny's. I wasn't feeling all that well and subsequently made a quick getaway. Today, I woke up around 10 o'clock and did homework: reading Jane Eyre Criticisms, did some Calculus, took a nap, watched some football, went to Target to buy some Honey Bunches of Oats, and finally went to Best Buy to buy three cd's: 3 Doors Down, 12 Stones, and Taking Back Sunday. Of these, the first two I had already downloaded, but I took a chance on the TBS album and was pleasantly surprised. To Digress a little bit, I've been listening to a lot of music lately namely Trapt, 12 Stones, Taking Back Sunday, 3 Doors Down, The Streets, Wilco, and SR-71 And you really have to support all of these bands / groups / whatever you want to call them.

Wednesday Wrapup

Again, I apologize for the infrequent updates, but I have been, as usual very busy: coding, more coding, tony hawk, counter-strike, and more prevalently Show choir, musical, jazz band, and such have been occupying my free time. In fact, I have not had one free day this week. It's been absolutely nuts just trying to get my homework done. However, I have managed to write some really nifty programs in java and javascript, one of which I wrote specifically for blogger, to expedite the process (so I don't have to code so much html). If you are interested in getting a copy, E-mail Me and I'll hook you up.

In other news, we had our first musical practice for Les Miserables on Tuesday. It went well, and I am greatly looking forward to the rest of the musical. It's my kind of show. Sort of morbid, serious, etc. Tonight I went we had a show choir performance for the public. We practiced, and performed and then performed again thanks to Mrs. Nahirniak, who sprung the surprising news that we would perform twice because we needed the extra practice. I also put in a bid last night on a portable mp3 player (the Archos Multimedia Jukebox 20), which has an lcd video screen, a slew of inputs and outputs, can act as a hard drive, etc. Check it out at Archos.com Although, it's pricey, and I was later outbid. That's about all for now.

It Burns!

Today was yet another interesting day. I missed school on Thursday due to my Wisdom teeth. I was supposed to go to Jazz Band this morning at 7:15 A.M., and I set both of my alarms and couldn't manage to fall asleep until about 3:30 A.M. I woke up at 7:30 A.M. At this point, making it on time for normal school was looking impossible. And, much to my dismay, it was. I entered the building at 8:15 A.M. a full 20 minutes late. But, no one seemed to care. Mr. Willauer thanked me just for showing up and the day proceeded pretty much without incident, though I did receive a good deal of homeowork. I am feeling tired, naturally and my eyes sting from lack of sleep. At lunch time, I went to Brandon Sevedge's house to watch top gun and eat some hot dogs. It was a good time, albeit short lived. After school was over, I finished up some work on 3 web pages, filed some technical support requests, blah blah blah... I'm probably going to Josh O's tonight, but had better get some sleep first.

Ouch

Another Wednesday recap, unfortunately. I did a lot of website work over the break and we LAN'ned at Danny's Sat-Mon. I played some ps2 online, some cs, put together my new computer case, and crank too much soda. But I couldn't stay for Monday due to the aforementioned extraction. I've been eating a lot of soft foods since Monday (yogurt, cottage cheese, and some ice cream) and I finished reading through chapter 26 of Jane Eyre. I guess that's all for now. Oh yeah, went over to Jerome's for New Years Eve / Day. Also, I attended a going away party for a friend of mine who's joiniing the National Guard (Brad). He won't be back until next November. I wish him all the best.
