San Diego Update
Dear all,
Thought I'd give you a little update as to what I'm doing in San Diego. First off, I took my LSAT and think that I did reasonably well. I'm anxiously anticipating the results, which are looming ever closer to being in my hands, becoming available on July 2nd. I'm finally starting to collect paychecks, which is also a good thing, given my whopping credit card bill from moving out here. Work has been good so far. I've more or less completed my first project, and am learning a fair bit along the way. In the computer side of things, I've also been doing some coding in my spare time. I've developed a mod for Quake 1, and I wrote a plugin for iTunes that I hope to make into a facebook application.
Activities:
I've been doing a little bit while I've been in SD. I went to a Padres game, and managed to score box seats. My friends Alex and Nathan came down form L.A. to visit me, which was also a welcome surprise. I wish we could've painted the town a bit more red than we did. I've also been frequenting stand up comedy of late, paying a visit to the La Jolla comedy store, and last night (Saturday) seeing Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifaniakis, and Craig Gas at the embarcadero, one of my all time favorite venues. The show was great; it's outdoors, and right on San Diego bay, so you sit outside watching the sun go down on the harbor, surrounded by water. It really doesn't get much better than that. Finally, I went to see a hip-hop show a week ago Sunday, featuring Sage Francis, Buck 65, and Alias, additionally showcasing the talents of a spoken word poet.
Free Time:
I do have a lot of free time, so I've been using my much needed (and deserved) respite to read some books. I've almost finished The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell, which is an interesting, if a bit too shallow read (I would've preferred a longer book with more depth). I've also been playing my fair share of video games and I've managed to work out practically every day at my apartment complex.Unfortunately, I've also been maintaining a companion in the form of a persistent sinus infection that even antibiotics can't seem to kick. Along with the sinusitis comes a commensurately wicked cough, which tends to keep me up nights.
Coming Back:
Many of you are undoubtedly wondering when I am coming back to Madison. As with many things, there's a long and a short answer to this: I'll be back to move my things from the 12th-19th of August. I then fly back to San Diego either to: work one more week, or to drive immediately back to Madison. It all depends on my housing situation.
Hope all is well in your world.
Kerry
